Gibson Vintage J-45 Acoustic Guitar for sale in Yucaipa, California

$3

Previous owner drilled the bottom peg hole to make it larger and the guitar cracked up the back and sides. Cracks were repaired once in 1982. Cracks have opened up again. This is not affecting the tone or sound quality. Because there is no stamp, seal or numbers on this guitar, I have only been able to research the details and determin this to be a late 1940's/early 1950's model. The estimated value has been from 3500.00 to 6000.00 Body is flat top and back. Sunburst is large. Ring around hole is w/b/w/b/w and slightly recessed. Old script style Gibson on the top of the neck in gold. (closer to rust from age). New keys because the originals crumbled. (replaced when cracks were repaired), About 1982. Rosewood neck, baseball bat style. Binded back and top. Rosewood bridge with pearlized dots (2) and pegs are off white/white. 19 frets with pearlized dots on 3,5,7,9,12,15. Dots on side of neck. Not original pick guard. Body measures 20" top to bottom. 11 1/2" across shoulders. 16" across bottom (hips). Bracing is "x" with no tapering. Some ribs were replaced in 1982 as well. 4" thick at shoulders and 4 3/4" thick at bottom. Between the keys just above the bridge is a "bell" shaped plastic decoration that is held on with 2 small metel pegs. I've seen this in the pictures of other Gibsons but they are all black with maybe an edge of white. The one I have is all white. I can no longer play and would like to sell it to someone that can enjoy the rich, fat tone of this wonderful guitar. (I have not found a modern acoustic that sounds this good). Cash only. No ship. Price is negotiable. Case included.
